Child Safety Standards

Last Updated: May 19, 2026

Gathrly has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This page describes the standards we apply across the app, how we detect and respond to violations, and how anyone — user or non-user — can report concerns to us.

These standards comply with applicable laws including 18 U.S.C. § 2258A in the United States, and align with Google Play's CSAE policy and Apple App Store Review Guideline 1.3.

Minimum age

Gathrly is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly allow accounts for anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we will remove the account and delete associated data.

What is prohibited

Across every part of Gathrly — chat messages, event titles, descriptions, locations, profile names, avatars, and any other user-supplied content — the following are strictly prohibited and result in immediate action:

This list is not exhaustive. Any content or conduct that exploits or endangers a child is prohibited.

How to report

We rely on user reports as our primary detection mechanism, and we treat every CSAE report with the highest priority.

In the app:

By email:

Anonymous reporting is supported. We never share reporter identity with the reported user.

How we respond

CSAE reports are not subject to our standard 24-hour review window — they are reviewed as quickly as humanly possible.

  1. Immediate suspension of the reported account pending review
  2. Content removal across the app, including cached copies
  3. Permanent account ban for any confirmed violation, with no appeal
  4. Mandatory reporting to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline for any CSAM detected, as required by 18 U.S.C. § 2258A
  5. Cooperation with law enforcement, including preservation of evidence and response to lawful requests
  6. Device-level blocking where possible to prevent the offender from rejoining

We do not negotiate, warn, or issue temporary suspensions for CSAE violations. The response is always permanent removal.

Detection and prevention

Gathrly is a small, human-moderated platform. Our detection approach combines:

As Gathrly grows, we will add automated CSAM hash-matching (PhotoDNA or equivalent) to chat attachments. Until then, our process is human-only and depends on prompt reporting.
